The first stage of the BMI Salao do Estudante 2026 fairs took place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, bringing together young people interested in study opportunities and representatives from educational institutions across various countries.
ASE was represented at the event on October 17-18 by PhD Prof. Irina Elena Petrescu, Director of the Rector's Cabinet, and Teodora Monica Fulga, Head of the Erasmus+ Office. In their interactions with prospective students, ASE's representatives gave details on the University's Education offer, as well as the international programs and opportunities available to ASE students.
Participation in the fair provides a platform to engage with potential candidates and their families, while also contributing to the international promotion of ASE's educational programs. During October 2026 and throughout the academic year, ASE is delighted to welcome groups of 12th-grade pupils and teachers from high schools and colleges from Bucharest and around the country. Representatives from ASE's Marketing and Communication Office are delighted to present the University's Bachelor's Educational offer, and to answer questions regarding study programs, the 2027 Admissions process, scholarships, accommodation facilities, international mobility and the development opportunities provided by ASE. The team from ASE's Faculty of Agrofood and Environmental Economics has qualified for the final stage of the Tsinghua Global SDG Case Competition 2026, becoming the only team from a Romanian university to be selected among the 24 finalists! On October 8-10, 2026, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) hosted the third edition of the International Conference on Economics - Challenges and Opportunities (ICECO 2026), organized at the initiative of ASE's Doctoral School in Economics II.
The opening ceremony was attended by PhD Prof. Alina-Mihaela Dima, ASE Vice-Rector for Scientific research, development, and innovation; PhD Prof. Mirela Stoian, Dean of the Faculty of Agrofood and Environmental Economics; and PhD Prof. Suleyman Degirmen, Vice-Rector of Sivas Cumhuriyet University in Turkey.
Aimed at Doctoral students and early-career researchers, the conference brought together representatives from 40 institutions across 16 countries, with 245 scientific papers presented during the event. The program featured scientific paper sessions, plenary presentations, and workshops led by researchers and academics from Romania and abroad, giving participants the opportunity to present their work and engage with specialists from the academic community. During October 8 - 11, 2026, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) participated in the meeting of the Universitaria Consortium hosted by the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu. ASE's Delegation, led by Rector, PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, included Vice-rectors and representatives from the institution's administrative structures.

Between September 27 - October 10, 2026, a Delegation from ASE - represented by PhD Teaching Assistant Andra Mecu, Director of the Department of Liaison with the Business Environment, and PhD Teaching Assistant Florentina Tanase, Project Coordinator for the ASE Alumni Association - participated in the "University Alumni Relations Capacity Building Program". The program focused on the relationship between universities and alumni, viewing it as a long-term strategic partnership that can support new generations of students and the university's development. Organized by the Romanian-American Foundation (RAF) and CIEE, with the support of UNC Charlotte and NC State University, the program took place in Charlotte and Raleigh, USA.
Over the course of the two weeks, participants examined American best-practice models through meetings with deans, university leaders, and teams specializing in alumni relations. Additionally, sessions led by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education - CASE offered concrete solutions for engaging alumni in mentoring, research, volunteering, and business sector partnerships. ASE's representatives emphasized that the experience gained in the USA would create opportunities to develop new collaboration mechanisms among ASE, the alumni community, and the business sector. On October 7, 2026, ASE inaugurated the 2026-2027 academic year at its Distance Learning Center in Deva, in a recently restored facility located in the town's historic center.
The opening ceremony was attended by PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, ASE's Rector, members of the University's Senate and the Board of Trustees; academics and students, as well as representatives of local and county authorities. Guests included Lucian-Ioan Rus, Mayor of Deva; Laurentiu Nistor, President of the Hunedoara County Council; Lorincz Szell, Prefect of the County of Hunedoara; His Grace Nestor, Bishop of Deva and Hunedoara (who officiated the blessing ceremony for the restored building); and members of the County School Inspectorate and local high school principals.
After nearly three years of work, the historic building hosting ASE's Distance Learning Center in Deva has returned to academic use, fully rehabilitated and adapted for academic activities. The facility offers students and faculty five lecture halls, spaces for academic and administrative work, a medical office, and accommodation for teaching staff. Through this investment, ASE has breathed new life into a heritage building, restoring it to its natural purpose: a space for education, interaction, and university life. On October 2, 2026, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) and the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU) marked the 10th anniversary of the launch of the project entitled "Academy of Hope - Volunteering out of Love for Life". This initiative is dedicated to preparing the academic community to respond correctly to emergencies and to administer first aid.
To mark the occasion, ASE and DSU renewed their partnership for the next five years, by manes of an agreement signed by PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, ASE's Rector, and Dr. Raed Arafat, State Secretary and Head of the Department for Emergency Situations. ASE maintains its position in the 801-1000 band at world level, among 2,297 universities from 118 countries. On September 25, 2026, the Aula Magna hosted the Official Opening of the new academic year at ASE. The welcome messages were addressed by PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, Rector, PhD Prof. Liana Badea, Vice-President of the University's Senate, PhD Prof. Pavel Nastase, rector of ASE during 2012 - 2016, Prof. Mariana Comanita, director of the "Spiru Haret" National College, Marta Ioana Belehuzi, President of the University's Student Union (USASE), and student Cristiana Stan, admitted with an average of 10 to the Faculty of Finance and Banking.
The second part of the event was dedicated to partners in pre-university education by awarding Diplomas of Excellence and Merit. The directors of the first 21 high schools and colleges in the Capital City and in the country were awarded distinctions for the high number of their graduates who chose to become ASE's students in 2026.
Moreover, ASE's management rewarded the performance of the first year students who obtained the highest admission averages at each of our faculties, with symbolic gifts and Diplomas of Merit. The students were accompanied to the awards ceremony by the directors of the colleges and high schools they graduated.

On September 25, 2026, the opening day of the academic year -- in keeping with tradition -- PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, ASE's Rector, together with members of the Bureau of the Board of Trustees, met with and congratulated the faculty members recently hired following the academic recruitment competitions held during the second semester of the previous academic year. These appointments include 21 university assistants hired for an indefinite period and 12 for a fixed term. On September 25, 2026, ASE welcomed 184 incoming Erasmus+ students who study at our university during the first semester of the 2026-2027 academic year. The students come from over 20 countries across Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa, with the largest group arriving from universities in Spain. The number of incoming Erasmus+ students has increased by 20% compared to the previous academic year, confirming the steady growth of ASE's international dimension. The students were welcomed by PhD Prof. Constantin-Marius Profiroiu, Vice-Rector for International relations, and the Erasmus+ team from the International Relations Department. The meeting included presentations on the university, academic opportunities, and facilities available for international students, as well as the key directions of the internationalization process.

During September 24-26, 2026, a delegation from ASE, led by PhD Prof. Gheorghe Hurduzeu, President of the University's Senate, participated in the international scientific conference "Competitiveness and Innovation in the Knowledge Economy", organized by the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM) -- a strategic partner of ASE -- as part of the activities marking the institution's 35th anniversary.
During the visit to Chisinau, ASE's delegation met with the ASEM Rector, Academician Alexandru Stratan, and Academician Grigore Belostecinic, a former Rector of ASEM. To celebrate ASEM's Anniversary, Prof. Hurduzeu presented the ASEM's management team with a commemorative plaque and a congratulatory message on behalf of our University.

During September 21-25, 2026, several ASE students participated in an intensive leadership and personal development program held at ASE's "Ion Gh. Rosca" Training Center Complex in Predeal.
Over the course of the five days, the students discussed case studies and professional experiences with representatives from the academic and business worlds: PhD Prof. Dorel Paraschiv, ASE Vice-Rector for Liaison with the social and business environment and cooperation with students; Mariana Gheorghe, former CEO of OMV Petrom; Violeta Ciurel, former CEO of companies within the AXA, NN, and ING groups; Serban Toader, former Senior Partner at KPMG; and PhD Assoc. Prof. Camelia Staiculescu, coordinator of the University's Center for Career Counseling and Guidance.
Mariana Gheorghe, Violeta Ciurel, and Serban Toader are co-founders of the Future of Leadership Institute, which initiated and conducted the program. On September 18, 2026, ASE was represented at the Central & Eastern Europe Conference of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) by PhD Prof. Marius Constantin Profiroiu, Vice-rector for International relations.
The meeting addressed the key directions of the AUF's new development strategy for the 2026-2029 period, as well as challenges regarding the development and strengthening of the Francophone university network in the Central and Eastern Europe region. The conference agenda also included topics such as the role of universities in peace diplomacy, science diplomacy, institutional resilience, sustainable development, and regional cooperation.
The event also offered opportunities to meet with academic partners from the region, including representatives from Caucasus University in Tbilisi, Georgia, and PhD Prof. Alexandru Stratan, Rector of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova. On September 2026, ASE began the implementation phase of the project dedicated to the consolidation and renovation of the building on 22B Calea Serban Voda Street. This is a significant milestone following a sustained effort to prepare the project and complete the necessary procedures for the actual execution of the investment.
The project entails structural reinforcement, internal reconfiguration, functional renovation, the addition of an attic level, facade remodeling and restoration, and site landscaping. The design and construction contract spans over 24 months, with three months allocated for the design phase.
To mark the start of this stage, on September 15, ASE's Rector, PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor - accompanied by Vice-rectors, Deans, and members of the University's administrative team - conducted a site visit alongside representatives from the design and construction teams. They assessed the building's current condition, the organization of the construction site, and the key stages of the intervention.
The Calea Serban Voda project continues ASE's program to develop, modernize, and capitalize on its university assets; in recent years, the start of the academic year has consistently been accompanied by new investments in academic infrastructure. During September 14-16, 2026, ASE hosted the International Political Marketing Symposium, organized by ASE's Faculty of Marketing in collaboration with the UK Academy of Marketing.
The symposium was opened on September 14 by PhD Prof. Alina Dima, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, Development, and Innovation, and PhD Prof. Ioana Cecilia Popescu, Dean of the Faculty of Marketing.
This year's topic was "Political Marketing in the Post-Truth Era: Is Political Marketing Saving or Destroying Democracy?", and the agenda included keynote speeches by Christian Scheucher and Emma Rowlands, roundtables, an international doctoral colloquium, a working session facilitated by the editors of the Journal of Political Marketing, as well as panels on topics such as civic engagement and democratic legitimacy, political branding and institutional strategy, public trust, and manipulation and disinformation. During September 8-11, 2026, a delegation from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) participated in the 36th edition of the EAIE Conference and Exhibition in Glasgow - one of Europe's leading events dedicated to the internationalization of higher education.
ASE's Delegation was led by Rector, PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, and included PhD Prof. Constantin Marius Profiroiu, Vice-Rector for International Relations, and PhD Prof. Claudiu Herteliu, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Cybernetics, Statistics and Informatics. ASE was represented at the "Study in Romania" stand, which promoted Romanian higher education during the international exhibition accompanying the conference.
During the event, ASE's representatives held meetings with counterparts from various universities, such as Istanbul Esenyurt University (Turkey), Technische Hochschule Brandenburg (THB) - University of Applied Sciences (Germany), SKEMA Business School (France), and the Georgian National University (Georgia).
The delegation also had a series of working meetings with: Aneta Sobotka, Europe Director at Times Higher Education, Mike Roesler, International Partnerships Manager at Stanford Summer Session, Boris Mattos, Vice-Rector for International Relations at the Bratislava University of Economics and Business (a key partner of our university), as well as with representatives from NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, the University of Strasbourg, and the SKOLAE Group.

On September 8, 2026, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) welcomed participants to the 7th edition of the "School of Modern Finance" program, organized by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) in collaboration with the National Bank of Romania (BNR) and ASE.
Students from Moldova State University were greeted by ASE's Vice-rectors PhD Associate Prof. Ionela Costica, PhD Prof. Dorel Paraschiv, and PhD Prof. Paul Pocatilu - who welcomed the former and wished them a valuable academic experience during their time in Bucharest. The first day at ASE continued with academic sessions delivered by PhD Prof. Radu Ciobanu, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Banking, and PhD Teaching Assist. Danut Mihai, who covered current topics in economics and finance.
Through its academic and applied components, the "School of Modern Finance" offers participants access to specialized expertise, up-to-date perspectives on the economy and finance, and a platform for dialogue and the exchange of experience between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. - ASEM students at the "School of Modern Finance"
On July 28, 2026, ASE's Rector, PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, together with the team of Vice-rectors and the management of the Faculty of Finance and Banking, received the Bachelor's and Master's students of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova participating in the sixth edition of the "School of Modern Finance" program. During the meeting, discussions focused on the training of future specialists, the development of the necessary skills in the finance and banking field, and the importance of academic cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
The training program is organized between July 25 - August 2, 2026, by the National Bank of Moldova, the National Bank of Romania and the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. The agenda includes lectures, debates and professional meetings dedicated to deepening knowledge of economic and financial mechanisms and understanding the connection between economic concepts and reality. The program also includes visits to Iasi, Sinaia, Brasov and Suceava, to complement the academic experience by experiencing the cultural and historical heritage of Romania.

On July 24, 2026, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, represented by Rector, PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, and Electrica, represented by the General Manager, Alexandru Chirita, signed a Partnership Agreement that marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration aimed at supporting the development of education, research and innovation, as well as strengthening the link between the university environment and the energy sector.

On July 2, 2026, ASE's Rector, PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, received a visit from a delegation from the Middle Technical University in Baghdad, Iraq, led by PhD Prof. Wadhah Amer Hatem, President of the university. On Monday, April 20, 2026, ASE's Aula Magna hosted the Financial Education Forum, an event held under the High Patronage of the President of Romania, which brought together institutional leaders from the financial sector, public administration and academia.
The event took place in the context of Financial Education Day and continues a national initiative to consolidate financial culture, initiated in 2022, in partnership with key institutions of the financial system. This year's topic was "Financial education: the cohesion interface between providers and users of financial products", which highlighted the role of financial education in the molding of a responsible society adapted to the new economic realities. The forum brought to the fore an essential dimension of the university's mission: the molding of future decision-makers and professionals of the financial market, capable of interacting with an increasingly informed and demanding consumer. The agenda included two panels dedicated to: the educational ecosystem in financial education, and the role of technology in developing financial skills.

The AutoVortex Romania - ASE robotics team achieved remarkable results in this year's edition of the Andorra European Open, one of the most prestigious competitions in the field at European level, held during March 21 - 22, 2026. On March 5, 2026, ASE received a visit from the communication directors of Erste Group, representing several countries in the region: Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Poland and Hungary. During the visit, Erste Group representatives from these countries participated in a working meeting organized in ASE's ZBOR Room, an ecosystem created by BCR for young people.
