  3. ASE - ranked 3rd at the WiDS Datathon ++ University Edition
    Congratulations to ASE's team for being ranked 3rd in the world at the WiDS Datathon ++ University Edition, a prestigious competition organized under the aegis of Standford University! ASE participated with 3 teams comprising Master's students in Applied Statistics and Data Science, organized by the Faculty of Economic Cybernetics, Statistics and Informatics. The winning team comprises Ana Maria Oprea, Bianca Contolencu, Gianina Maria Petrascu, Ioana Birlan and coordinator PhD Prof. Cristina Rodica Boboc. The event brought together teams from more than 70 universities from 23 countries. The contest consisted in the use of advanced data analysis to solve a real life critical social challenge, and provided the opportunity for students to prove their creativity, theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as get to know each other better.     In July 2024, at the European Universities Games held in Miskolc-Debrecen, ASE's Women's Chess team became the European Champion at Blitz Chess.     The Bucharest University of Economic Studies climbs in the QS World University Rankings: Eastern Europe, being ranked 6th in Romania, and 63rd overall in the 2025 edition, released on July 10, 2024. ASE has made constant efforts, in recent years, to position itself better in terms of the evaluation criteria: academic reputation; employer reputation; citations per paper; the number of scientific papers per faculty; participation in international research networks; employment outcomes; faculty student ratio; international student diversity and faculty ratio; incoming and outgoing international student; sustainability.   2. The Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia visited ASE
    On June 27, ASE's Rector, PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, and PhD Prof. Constantin Marius Profiroiu, Vice-rector for International relations, received the visit of H.E. Mr. Sami Nagga, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to Romania.   3. C2R-ECO Regional Conference
    On June 27-28, 2024, ASE hosted the Regional Conference of Rectors from Central and Eastern Europe C2R-ECO, organized under the aegis of the Association of Francophone Universities (AUF). This year's topic was "Francophone universities in the context of global challenges: Perspectives for Central and Eastern Europe". The event reunited rectors and vice-rectors from more than 50 Francophone universities from the region, aiming to strengthening collaboration networks between francophone universities in the region, stimulate student and staff mobility, promote Francophone in education and research, provide the opportunity to debate current challenges, such as globalization, digitalization and inequality, as well as to identify common solutions.   4. "Eugeniu Carada" Award at the MNLR Gala
    On June 21, 2024, PhD Associate prof. Sorin Anagnoste, deputy dean at ASE's Faculty of Business Administration in Foreign Languages was bestowed the "Eugeniu Carada" Award in Economics for his volume entitled "Business Strategies. Building Sustainable Models with Artificial Intelligence and Digital Platforms", published by ASE's Publishing House. The ceremony was part of the 11th Award Gala of the National Grand Lodge of Romania (MLNR), hosted by the Romanian Athenaeum.     The event was attended by a numerous delegation of ASE's Board of Trustees and University's Senate, led by PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, Rector, and PhD Prof. Gheorghe Hurduzeu, President of the University's Senate.   8. Working visit to Canada
    On June 9-15, 2024, ASE's Delegation, comprising Rector, PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, and Vice-rector for International relations, PhD Prof. Constantin Marius Profiroiu, paid a working visit to Montreal, Canada, part of the University's internationalization strategy aimed at enhancing ASE's international visibility and developing strong partnerships with universities from North America.
    The program included ASE's Delegation's participation in the 30th Conference of Montreal organized by the International Economic Forum of the Americas- IEFA. The event brought together more than 200 participants and 120 speakers from over 40 countries. Furthermore, ASE's Delegation had bilateral meetings with the management team of HEC Montreal - a global leading business university, and the new Rector of L'Universite du Quebec a Montreal - UQAM, ASE's institutional partner for the Romanian-Canadian MBA program. It was agreed to initiate partnership relations in the field of sustainable development for business and to sign an Erasmus agreement.
    ASE's Delegation also met with Mr. Stephane Pallage, Rector of Universite du Quebec a Montreal (UQAM) and the university's management team. It was agreed to continue the very good collaboration between the two universities, to develop a double degree Bachelor's study program, and to undertake jointly supervised doctorate programs.   9. ASE's team wins the gold medal at the National University Chess Championship!
    ASE's team dominated the National University Championship held in Timisoara on May 10-12, 2024, with 11.5 points ahead over the next university (the equivalent of 11 games won and one draw).
    In the individual competition, ASE's students Alessia Ciolacu and David Gavrilescu won the gold medals in the women's and men's events, while Andrei Dolana won the bronze medal in the men's blitz event.
    As a result, ASE's team is to represent Romania at the European Universities Championships, which will take place on July 12-24 in Debrecen-Miskolc, Hungary. ASE's team consisted of: David Gavrilescu, Andrei-Theodor Dolana, Alessia-Mihaela Ciolacu, Alexandra-Ioana Patru, Anamaria Rata, Andreea-Alexandra Schiopu, Alexia-Iuliana Marin, Robert-Alexandru Panait, Colin Grigorescu, Ion Vornicescu.   10. ASE in Metaranking 2023
    ASE continues its ascending trend, being ranked 8th in the Metaranking 2023 - the annual official classification of higher education institutions, released on May 8, 2024 by the Ministry of Education. The classification comprises 28 out of the 52 Romanian state universities, evaluated on the latter's presence in international rankings recognized by the International Ranking Expert Group, Inventory of International Rankings (IREG).

    On May 17, 2024, the Institute of Financial Studies, the Financial Supervision Authority and the Bucharest University of Economic Studies organize the White Night of Universities - an event dedicated to university and high schools students.
    The event is hosted between 17:30-23:30h by ASE's Faculty of Finance and Banking - at the Paul Bran Building on 5-7 Mihail Moxa Street. Access is free of charge; the event program includes a series of financial literacy edutainment activities, meetings with personalities from different fields of the business and professional environment, personal development trainings, presentations of various career development opportunities etc.

  1. DNSC-ASE Partnership
    On April 25, 2024, a Delegation from the Romanian National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC) was received by PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, ASE's Rector, and members of the University's management team. On the occasion, a partnership agreement was signed by DNSC and ASE, with participants exploring inter-institutional cooperation opportunities in the field of cyber security. Discussions focused on internships for ASE?s students at DNSC, the participation of DNSC experts as invited lecturers for classes organized by ASE's faculties, the accessing of European funds for joint projects, with a view to enhancing the cooperation and impact of the two partners in the economic field. This partnership agreement not only offers immediate advantages to the students and parties involved, but it also impacts society at large, contributing to the formation of highly skilled labor force, as well as the enhancement of cyber security and of sustainable economic development.     On April 23, 2024, the BNR-ASE Annual Conference was held at the National Bank of Romania (BNR). This year's topic was "Perspectives on the development of the Romanian Banking Sector".   3. ASE's presence at the Reunion of the Universitaria Consortium
    On April 18-20, 2024, a Delegation from ASE participated in the Reunion of the Universitaria Consortium, hosted by the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iasi (UAIC). ASE's Delegation was led by PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, Rector, who made an address during the opening session, and PhD Prof. Gheorghe Hurduzeu, President of the University's Senate, and comprised vice-rectors and other members of the University's management team, as well as of the staff union.     On April 15-19, 2024, a Delegation from ASE participates in the AACSB International Conference & Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The Delegation comprises PhD Prof. Constantin Marius Profiroiu, Vice-rector for International Relations, and PhD Prof. Liviu Cotfas, Director of International Relations. The event brings together over 1300 representatives of business educators from over 60 countries.     On April 10-12, 2024, PhD Prof. Constantin Marius Profiroiu, vice-rector for International relations, is paying a working visit to Swansea University, Great Britain, the host of the Annual Conference of the European University Association (EUA). The program of the visit included meetings and discussions with representatives of Swansea University: Prof. Judith Lamie - Vice-rector for International relations, Prof Fiona Jordan - International Relation Director - School of Management, and Prof. Helen Griffith - Vice-rector for Research.   7. Order of "Industrial and Commercial Merit" in the rank of Commander
    The Bucharest University of Economic Studies received the Order of "Industrial and Commercial Merit" in the rank of Commander, awarded by the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, on the occasion of the Financial Education Day, as a sign of appreciation for ASE's special merits and contribution to the promotion of economic and financial education, by disseminating specific knowledge and developing responsible economic behaviors. The ceremony took place on April 11, 2024, during the second edition of the "Financial Education Forum" Conference, on the topic of "Digital safety of users of financial products and services", held at the National Bank of Romania.     On April 10-12, PhD Prof. Constantin Marius Profiroiu, ASE's Vice-rector for International Relations, participates in the 2024 Annual Conference of the European University Association - EUA), hosted by the University of Swansea, Great Britain. This year's topic is "Universities in Europe: integrity in a time of change", aiming to examine the capacity of European universities to cope with change and shape societal transformations, while remaining true to their core character, values and missions.   2. Conference on "Insurance. Current and Future Policies"
    On March 28, 2024, ASE's Aula Magna hosted the Conference entitled "Insurance. Current and Future Policies", organized by ASE in partnership with the Association for Economic and Social Studies and Forecasts (ASPES) and the Financial Supervision Authority (ASF). The plenary session was opened by PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, ASE's Rector and benefited from the participation of government representatives and insurance experts.

  4. Free of charge courses in Macroeconomics
    During the second semester of the current academic year, ASE's Management team offers first year students the opportunity to participate in free of charge extracurricular courses in Macroeconomics. The courses are scheduled between March 29 - May 24 on the blended learning platform.

  7. Contest for pupils organized by ASE
    On April 1-5, 2024, ASE in partnership with the "A. D. Xenopol" Economic College and the "Tudor Vianu" National College of Computer Science organize the 10th Interdisciplinary Economics Contest for High School Pupils entitled "Today's Pupils, Tomorrow's Professionals". The contest includes Training Firm Fairs and Essay Competitions and is open to participants from high schools and national colleges throughout the country, and it is included in the National Olympiad Calendar.

    On March 1- April 30, 2024, the "Cecilia Cutescu Storck" Art Gallery from ASE's Palace hosts the Painting exhibition entitled "Motherhood", with works by artist Mioara Mitu, curator Florentin Gabriel Niculescu.     On March 6, 2024, ASE received the visit of an official Delegation from the University of Hyogo (Japan) comprising PhD Prof. Makoto Kosaka, President, and PhD Prof. Carmen Sapunaru-Tamas, President's advisor on International relations. The Delegation was welcomed by PhD Prof. Marius Profiroiu, Vice-rector for International relations, and discussions focused on cooperation opportunities for our two universities, especially joint projects to be undertaken under the aegis of the satellite office which the Japanese university is to open in ASE.   11. Study visit from University of Hyogo
    On March 4-6, 2024, ASE receives the visit of a group of 20 Japanese students and 3 academic staff members from the University of Hyogo, ASE's partner. The program includes activities jointly undertaken with ASE students, as part of the Global Leader Education Program (GLEP) of the Japanese university.
    The program of the Japanese Delegation includes meetings with PhD Prof. Marius Profiroiu, Vice-rector for International relations, with the members of ASE's Centre for Japanese Studies, academics and students from the Bachelor's program in Applied Modern Languages organized by ASE's Faculty of International Business and Economics, as well as students enrolled in the optional Japanese language course.   1. PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor - confirmed as Rector of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies
    PhD Professor Nicolae Istudor was confirmed as Rector of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies by Ministerial Order No. 3923 issued on February 28, 2024, for a five-year mandate starting from March 5, 2024.
    Prof. Istudor was re-elected as Rector of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies on February 22, 2024, with 84.62% of the votes expressed by the voters from ASE's academic community who participated in the electoral process in large numbers - i.e. a voter turnout of 87.05% was registered. During its Extraordinary Meeting of February 28, ASE's University's Senate unanimously validated the result of the voting process for the election of ASE's Rector.

  2. ASE's team winner of the "MATTEI DOGAN" Award
    On February 27, 2024, ASE's team comprising PhD Associate prof. Simona Oprea and PhD Prof. Adela Bara was bestowed the prestigious "MATTEI DOGAN" Award during the Romanian Research Gala 2024, at the Social Sciences and Economics Sections. ASE's researchers were awarded the Grand Trophy and a prize amounting to 300000 ron.
    The Romanian Research Gala is an initiative of the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization, to promote exceptional results in Romanian research; it grants 300000 ron to each of the most important 11 science and technology projects undertaken by the country's leading researchers.

  1. Newly elected President of ASE's University's Senate
    On January 31, 2024, the new University's Senate of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, elected PhD Prof. Gheorghe Hurduzeu as its President for the 2024-2029 mandate. Prof. Hurduzeu holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from ASE (1987-1992), a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Bucharest (1991-1995), and a Doctoral Degree in Economics (1994-1998) from ASE. He has been an academic staff member with ASE's Faculty of International Business and Economics since 2005, has held various managerial positions at institutional level, and has worked for various national bodies as a researcher, lawyer or adviser on economic issues.     In January 2024, ASE became an institutional member of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). ASE aims to continue its efforts towards establishing a national network - SDSN Romania, to reunite institutions interested in knowledge development for sustainable development in Romania, namely universities, research institutes, and non-governmental organizations.     On January 23, 2024, ASE's Rector, PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, was bestowed the Excellence Award for Academic Management during the event entitled "One Thought: Romania", the 4th edition of the Excellence Gala "Together We Protect Romania". The event was hosted by the Royal Palace on the occasion of the 165th Anniversary since the Union of the Romanian Principalities.   10. ASE at Seoul International Seminar
    On January 18-19, 2024, PhD Prof. Marius Profiroiu, Vice-Rector for International Relations, represented ASE at the international seminar "New Weberian State as a Model for Reform and Reform of Current Models", organized by the Seoul National University, under the coordination of professors Tobin Im, from Seoul National University, and Geert Bouckaert, from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Prof. Profiroiu delivered a keynote speech entitled "Towards a New Public Governance: The challenges of designing coherent public administration reform". Debates focused on the role of the state and pf and the market in the "New Weberian model". Prof. Profiroiu presented the case of Romania, where there are elements of New Public Management, and the traditional model of public administration, as well as the challenges related to the changes needed in the current national context.   11. Meeting of ASE's University's Senate
    On January 17, 2024, the Aula Magna hosted the final meeting of the members of ASE's University's Senate in office during 2020-2024. For 4 years, the Board of Trustees and the University's Senate have successfully overcome all great challenges, beginning with the pandemic period; they have worked together for the smooth running of the University's activities and its development on multiple levels, which led to outstanding achievements for the University and its academic community, both at national and at international level. At the end of the meeting, ASE's Rector, PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor, thanked the President of the University's Senate, PhD Prof. Dumitru Miron, for his entire activity in this position and bestowed him the ASE 110 Anniversary Trophy.     On January 8, 2024, the University resumed the guided tours offered to prospective candidates. ASE received the first visit this year - 90 students from the "George Cosbuc" Bilingual National College from Bucharest, accompanied by teaching staff. The students and teachers were welcomed in the Aula Magna, where they received information about the Educational offer of ASE's faculties, details about the admission process, about educational and professional opportunities, as well as about study mobility abroad.
